Fumes and a Prayer: How to Live at the Edge and Still Be Home for Dinner

Fumes and a Prayer: How to Live at the Edge and Still Be Home for Dinner
Dennis Bauer, pilot  and #1 international bestselling author

The signature story involves flying a Cessna TU206 from Tacoma WA to near Denver. The engine decided to quit somewhere over northern Colorado 5,000’ off the ground. That sometimes happens when you run a tank dry. Turns out, both tank gauges showed empty, but you know we don’t trust the fuel gauges.

The talk follows the progression of events and the application of the Aviate, Navigate, Communicate formula to the situation. Then, and maybe more importantly to the members, I unpack that and show how the formula actually applies to all of life.

After listening to a Mission Aviation Fellowship pilot’s fascinating stories, Dennis began flight training in LaGrande, Oregon, and received his PP while in the US Air Force tech school at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois.

While at Clover Park Tech College for his A&P licenses, he flew out of the Flying Club at Fort Lewis, WA. A Cessna TU206, was his favorite, and that airplane, N1065V, became a major character in his bestselling book, Fumes and a Prayer: How to Live at the Edge and Still Be Home for Dinner.

Dennis’ books have been sold around the world, and his inspirational and motivational keynote speech has been delivered to thousands of people.
