How to shoot down civilian aircraft and other intercept strategies

A U.S. Air Force fighter jet soars past a CAP Cessna aircrew during an intercept training exercise. CAP planes simulate trespassers in secured space so military pilots can practice dealing with such airspace violations. Photo // Civil Air Patrol

Civilian aircraft operations are subject to interception in the interest of national security, defense, or law enforcement. This presentation will review the international framework for flight operations, discuss select instances of use of force against civilian aircraft, and review ICAO (and FAA) intercept procedures.
