Orcas Island Flyout 2001Hosts: Terry, Jim, and Rollie

| Fifty-four people in over 20 planes arrived
at Eastsound, Orcas Island for 3 fun filled days. The weather could not
have been better. Clear blue skies with cool breezes to keep the
temperature in the low 80's all weekend. As sometimes happens, there are
always stories to tell. Starting with Rollie getting food poisoning in
Anacortes Thursday night and getting rushed to the emergency room at
midnight (yes he survived and is ok), to Sam Richardson having to stop
and rebuild the mag's on the SeeBee in Bremerton.
Friday night started out as a cocktail party at the Outlook Inn, but ended up as dinner for most of us with all of the food provided. We ended up by cramming 16 people into the 15 person van for a sunset view of the islands from 2360 foot Mt.Constitution.Going up everyone questioned why would a bunch of pilots would want to do something as crazy as that. Ask anyone that went up and they'll give you the answer. The next day some of us went sightseeing around the islands by air, land, and sea. Fourteen brave soles tried their hand in the sea kayaks, while others went hiking, shopping at the Saturday market, or visited Rosario Resort. Saturday night culminated by a spectacular dinner and evening entertainment by "Those Two Guys" from Victoria, BC. Again, because of problems and delays on the ferries, they arrived late, but still gave a great show until midnight. Sunday morning nearly everyone wanted to stay a few more days, but all good things must come to an end. Guess we'll have to wait until next year and maybe make it for one more day longer. Here is a preview of some of the pictures. More to follow in the next Flight Log. Click on the pictures to see them in full size.
