Rare
bird
Only 50 of these PA-39 twin
turbo-charged IO-320 models were produced. The PA-39 is the late model
version of the PA-30 and it features a ten-knot slower VMC. In total, only 150 of the PA-39 twin Comanche
series (turbo and non-turbo) were produced. Features
of this bird include tip tanks and
built-in oxygen for six people.
This airplane lived two hangers down
from me and was previously owned by CAA club member Ken Parker.
In 1999
the bird went through an extensive nose to tail maintenance upgrade
at AAA Aviation, then Precision Flight speed brakes were added and
new avionics were installed.
After
extensive twin-training from Aurora Aviation instructors, N8880Y
began a busy flying schedule. Golf anyone? |
