Maule Restoration

Maule M6 N5651E

Swans Song

A handcrafted "2004" Maule.  Starting with a stripped down frame, a couple wings, an engine, boxes of parts and a bucket of bolts, Gene and Craig labored in their hangar at Lenhardt's Airhaven for two years and two months to produce a powerful, sleek, virtually new aircraft.

First flight was July of 2004 and it made a grand appearance soon afterwards at Yellow Pine, Idaho (Johnson Creek Maule fly-in), followed the next day by the McKinnon flyout with a perfect landing with Geno at the controls.  Instructor Craig must have been giving him pointers on short final.

The modern panel is graced with names like Garmin, Century and King and 51E flies with equal capability IFR in the clouds or VFR into back-country strips.  It never met a grass strip it didn't like.
