There Sam was, high in the sky near Port
Townsend on the way back from the Orcas Island flyout. Low and
behold, the trusty Franklin began petering out. No water below, no
airport close, so a glide to a farmers field became its destiny.
Master of the skies and nearly all below, Capt'n Sam nursed the newly
rebuilt Seabee to a smooth landing. But the rollout proved to be Cow
lossal as Bessie strolled into the rollout path and found herself TU and soon past-tense
as the rumpled
strustkin jolted to a halt.

| A few bruises for
the pilot but otherwise udderly unscathed. The Republic will be
borne back with wings detached and headed for the
R&R hanger. Maybe we'll have an extra steak night at the club this
month, -- well maybe ground beef.
And we'll sing our new song, the Ballad of
Bessie
.. conceived in the fertilized brains of Bill McDonald and Jake
Jacobs.....
From a Jack to a King
From wings aloft to a major ding
The rollout was keen, but a cow was seen
From a Hanger King to a Dairy Queen
TU dude!
